TradeData is part of a research team working with senior government officials in Pakistan on developing enabling government policies to assist small scale low income farmers in Dairy, Citrus and Mango. Senior government officials from the Pakistan provinces of Punjab and Sindh, and the National Planning Commission visited Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney in second week of October. The Pakistan officials were from Departments of Agriculture and Departments of Livestock. The research team organised a large number of presentations from experts in Australia that outlined in detail the evolution of the Australian agricultural sector from a heavily protected industry to an unprotected free market sector. These experiences could assist Pakistan in redefining its policies on Agriculture and Livestock to the benefit of poor farmers. TradeData’s focus is on identifying new potential export opportunities for Pakistan agriculture.
